Crayford Manor House File Lister

This program simply creates a csv file, listing the file creation date and time for the files selected in the following format...

filename and path, File creation Year, Month, Day, Hour, Minute, second.

It was requested by a CMHAS member because they needed to include this information in a spreadsheet for a large number of CCD images and Windows doesn't let you cut and paste this information in the native file browser.

Designed for recording the timings of lunar grazings, lunar occultations, asteroid occultations transits, meteor showers and any other astronomical observation that needs a record of the date and time to the nearest 10th of a second.

The time of each event is recorded on the screen and passed to the clipboard on exit, so can be pasted into any application

Installation

To run simply click on the MoonView.vb file using file explorer

Written in embedded Visual Basic 3, you may require the runtime files (try running first, it will probably work, if not they are available from here MSDN

MoonView is designed for use whilst at the telescope for Astronomers with a mild interest in lunar features.

Features:
1064 Features named and described in detail
Click and zoom/move to any feature.
Search for a particular feature
Select special features, such as albedo or craters only visible during librations

* - Beta release - *

This is complete, except for the descriptions in the data file - I have been too lazy/strapped for time to enter all 1064 descriptions - about 50% complete - Hey it's free you will have to wait...

There are 3 versions available, these only differ in the data file they use, this is to help those that don't have a great deal of memory on their pocket PC.

Small - contains Lunar 100, mountains and seas, and the craters listed in 'Norton's 2000.0 18th Edition', doesn't contain any crater descriptions.
Download File

Medium - contains everything in 'Small' plus all named lunar craters totalling 1064 features- when I say all, they have to be visible on Earth - the odd crater might be missing.

Large - everything in 'Small' and 'Medium' plus crater descriptions for craters starting with A - L (635 features). The observant amongst you will find that the data file is a csv file so you can add the other descriptions yourself - source for descriptions is Wikipedia - if you do, do me a favour and e-mail me the file or a link to it...

WJO What's up V1

This software is the answer for observers wanting to look at all those fuzzies but unsure what is above the horizon, high enough in the sky to be worth looking at and bright enough to see/image with your scope.

No need to prepare lists, just get out there and observe. The lazy person's ultimate weapon against those organised astronomers - pretend to be as organised as the best of them :-)

Does two jobs.

1. Tells you what objects are available for viewing at the telescope right now.

2. Creates a report saying what months objects are available and which months are the best observed.

Features

Filter by...
Catalogue, Magnitude, Object Type, minimum altitude

There is even some bright stars especially for doing drift alignment of the polar axis with your scope - Thought it was a good idea at the time...

Polar View Beta

My first Basic4PPC program

This is a simple program that displays a map of the north celestial pole, it can be configured to show the same view as your polar alignment telescope.

PolarView's main purpose is for accurate polar alignment in the field.

All good astronomers will know that the pole star 'Polaris' or the 'North Star' is not exactly on the north celestial pole, indeed, due to precession, nutation and proper motion it's position is moving, so, if like me your Vixen GPDX mount is fitted with a reticule that only shows the precession up to the year 2000, then this is the software for you. Unlike a polar alignment reticule, you don't need to adjust this for the date and time, the software does this for you.

Available for Windows and Pocket PC
