6.5 " F7.5 Newtonian

Mounted on a home made Alt-Az mount.

Tube is made from 200mm air conditioning duct, which has been lined with polystyrene and painted mat black.

Altitude bearing is very smooth. Made from Plastic soil pipe which is filled with a circular 1.5" thick piece of chip board which facilitates fixing to the tube.

Spider

Constructed from 3 hacksaw blades soldered to threaded rod to allow fixing and adjustment, These have a minimal cross-sectional area, and are a modification of the original threaded bar arms. This simple mod. made a big difference to contrast.

Modified Mount

This simple modification, lowering the altitude bearing from its original position reduced wobble in the azimuth bearing. Moving from a semi- circular altitude bearing to a V bearing reduced friction immensely.

Finder

10X50 finder, made from plastic waste pipe and a broken binocular bought at a junk shop.

It may be crude, but it works :-)
